12th Scale Miniature – Traditional Wax Jacket

Height (including coat hook): approximately 3½ inches (9 cm)

This charming little wax jacket looks great hanging from a hook on the wall, making it a perfect addition to any miniature setting. To ensure the weight is balanced, a little tacky wax on the back of the coat (against the wall) will reduce the strain on the hanger. Handcrafted with attention to detail, it would look lovely in a country cottage, garden shed, or the hallway of a miniature home.
The design was inspired by my partner Nigel’s own wax jacket and features lots of lovely little details that make it a delight to paint.
The buttons can be picked out in gold or bronze, while the collar would look wonderful in a warm buff colour. Traditionally, wax jackets are a rather weathered, muddy green, although they can also be found in shades of brown and almost-black. Whichever colour you choose, this is the perfect little accessory for an outdoorsy character who enjoys walking the dog, working the land or simply spending time in the countryside. A little weathering and ageing will add character and give it that well-loved, lived-in appearance.

Painting tips
For a smooth finish, begin with a suitable primer before applying spray paint. Alcohol-based paints can create a lovely, fluid finish, while acrylics offer good coverage and a wide choice of colours. For the Waxed Jacket I used Tamiya Color Lacquer Paint (colour Khaki)
Whichever medium you choose, try to apply thin layers rather than thick coats, as heavy paint can obscure the delicate details of the jacket.

Materials and durability
3D printed in high-grade resin, carefully selected for its long-lasting durability. While some 3D printing resins may deteriorate over time, I use premium-quality resin chosen for its longevity, so you can enjoy your miniature for years to come.
